    Explore maps and atlases from the 16th century to the present, get help accessing and using geographic data, and find government information at the Stephen S. Clark Library.

  3. Special Collections Research Center

    The Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) acquires, cares for, interprets, and shares collections of unique, rare, and primary source material. Examine collection materials, request an instructional session, and explore unique topics with librarians at special events.

  4. Papyrology Collection

    The largest collection in North America, with at least 18,000 ancient texts and documents dating from about 1,000 BCE to 1,000 CE.

  5. Ask a Librarian Desk

    Visit us in person for help locating resources, connecting with a specialist, or finding support.

  6. Hatcher Gallery Exhibit Room

    Visit exhibits delving deeply into a variety of themes, time periods, and document types, drawing on library's rich and varied collections.

  1. Hatcher Reference Reading Room

    Historic space in Hatcher North that's well-known for quiet study.

  2. Asia Library Reading Room

    A mixture of seating and the Oka Tadoku Room make up this cozy, light-filled space in Hatcher North.

  3. International Studies Reading Room

    A small, tucked away reading room near the Hatcher North lobby.

  4. Hatcher North Stacks Study Tables

    Claim an out-of-the-way spot in the book stacks.

  5. Hatcher North Floor 2 Spaces

    A historic space outside the Reading Room with wooden tables and reading lamps, along with some adjacent study areas.

  6. Clark Library Seating Area

    Grab a seat on the couches or an armchair located near the exhibit cases in the Clark Library.

  7. Hatcher South Carrels

    Cubicles for one with a desk and window.

  8. Hatcher South Bookable Daily Carrels

    Cubicles for one that can be reserved in advance.

  9. Hatcher South Bookable Weekly Carrels

    Donor-furnished cubicles for individual study that can be reserved for up to a week.

  10. Hatcher South Designated SSD Carrels

    Designated, enclosed carrels for Services for Students with Disabilities connected students.

  11. Hatcher South Long-term Research Carrels

    Semester-long carrel reservations for U-M graduate students and faculty.

  12. Hatcher Floor 6 Spaces

    A lounge-like study area with views of the Law Quad and Michigan Stadium.
