Our Organization

The University of Michigan Library is among the top-ranked academic research libraries in the United States.

In addition to millions of print and ebooks, our holdings include ancient documents written on papyrus; one-of-a-kind archival materials; special, rare, and unique maps, manuscripts, artists books, and more; a growing archive of playable video games; and journals and databases with the latest findings from just about every subject area.

This expansive collection, along with our expertise and facilities, enable the in-depth exploration of everything that has ever been known on any given topic — a crucial step on the way to discovering new knowledge.

We partner with the campus community at every stage of the research, learning, and teaching processes, providing support from a project’s beginnings to the public release of its outcomes and results.

We also contribute to student success and well-being by offering spaces, programming, awards, internships, jobs, workshops and for-credit classes, and more.
