Design Lab Student Positions

Want a job with the Shapiro Design Lab? Our staff is made up of undergraduates and graduate students from a variety of disciplines, who help develop and manage our projects and keep the lab running smoothly.

The majority of our positions are posted and hired at the beginning of the academic year. Please check our blog, Lab Notes, for position postings and sign up for our mailing list to find out about upcoming opportunities.

Intern

Open to undergraduates

As an intern, you’ll provide day-to-day support for our spaces: the PIE space, our media production rooms, and our workshop. You’ll also offer project consultations with students, faculty, and staff on a variety of topics. 

Resident 

Open to graduate students 

As a resident, you’ll work on existing and new projects happening at the lab, such as community and citizen science-themed work and audio storytelling and podcasting. You’ll also offer project consultations and help students, faculty, and staff use our equipment when needed.

Program assistant

Open to graduate students 

As a program assistant, you’ll help administer our spaces and projects alongside the Design Lab director. Your work might include project management, communication and marketing, supervising students, and taking care of the lab’s spaces: the PIE space, our media production rooms, and our workshop.
