About the space

The Shapiro Basement is home to many rows of compact shelving, but there’s study space too!

The open areas — mostly near the main stairwell and elevators — have movable tables and chairs. The tables are in a variety of shapes for flexible configurations.

The opposite end of the floor has the Shapiro CAEN Lab, which offers computers and external monitors that you can plug your laptop into. Note that only eligible members of the Michigan Engineering community can access CAEN computers

You’ll find movable whiteboards scattered throughout the floor and full whiteboard walls near the CAEN Lab.

The Student Parent and Caregiver Study Room is also located in the basement.
