We strongly encourage making an appointment to view any materials in our Maps and Atlases collection so that we can be ready for you.

Appointments are available on weekdays from 9am to 5pm, with some exceptions by special request. 

You can schedule an appointment online (select “Maps and Atlases”) or email us at clarklibrary@umich.edu to request one. 

Rare and pre-1900 materials

Appointments are required to view rare and pre-1900 materials. 

This includes anything that Library Catalog Search shows as located in:

• Clark Library Folio
• Clark Library Map Oversized Drawer
• Clark Library Rare Cases
• Clark Library Rare File
