About the space

The top floor of Shapiro has a mix of wooden tables and chairs throughout the floor. It is usually quieter than the other floors and is great for studying alone near others.

An open space on the north end of the floor near the elevators and Michigan Publishing offices is filled with round tables that are separated with privacy dividers into individual seats. There are also partitions throughout the space for privacy, a colorful wall mural, and a set of large windows in the center.

There are rectangular tables with seats for 2–6 people around the perimeter of the rest of the floor, including at the ends of book stacks and next to the Computer and Video Game Archive. Most are in floor-to-ceiling windowed nooks.
