Gallery Exhibit and Showcase Spaces

The Hatcher Gallery team manages several exhibit and showcase spaces. We accept exhibit proposals year round, and are happy to work with you to develop your exhibit ideas.

Submit an Exhibit Proposal Request

Please use our form to submit an exhibit proposal, and a member of our team will set up a consultation to discuss your idea. University departments and registered student organizations are welcome to propose exhibitions or showcases for the Hatcher Gallery or North Lobby. Exhibits should be broadly related to the Library’s mission and ideally reflect a collaboration with the Library in some way. The Library reserves the right to approve or deny any exhibit requests at our discretion.

Working with Gallery Staff

Please note: the exhibit creator is responsible for designing the exhibit, assembling display materials, writing content and covering printing costs. Hatcher Gallery staff will assist with installing the exhibit and is available to offer exhibit design guidance and fabrication materials recommendations.

For questions about exhibits or an exhibit in these spaces please email galleryreservations@umich.edu.

  • Hatcher Gallery Exhibit Space

The Hatcher Gallery Exhibit Space is a flexible exhibit space, located within Room 100 in the Hatcher Gallery.  Exhibits featured here range from semester long library-curated exhibits to shorter, pop-up exhibits organized by students and/or faculty.  This area allows exhibitors to create customized layouts, using a Mila-wall moveable wall system, and offers the option to host programming such as lectures and symposia in the adjacent event space.

    Hatcher North Lobby Cases

The Hatcher North Lobby Cases are located in the main entrance of the Hatcher Graduate Library. This is a high traffic area, and these showcases are an impactful way to highlight U-M Library’s collection, as well as feature student and faculty projects using library resources. The eight, glass windowed display cases are able to feature both 2D and 3D objects, while reaching the Library’s broad audience.
