Judaic Studies

We collect materials for Judaic studies research in all languages, particularly Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, and Aramaic, as well as other Jewish and Western languages. Topics include Jewish historiography, literature and film studies, Jewish history and culture in Israel and the diaspora, Holocaust studies, antisemitism, and Biblical, Talmudic, and Rabbinic Judaism.

In addition to print and electronic books, our collection contains audio and video recordings, microform, graphic novels, artwork, photos, postcards, ephemera, and more.

Of particular interest are the Irwin M. Alterman Haggadah Collection, the Jewish cookbooks in the Janice Bluestein Longone Culinary Archive, and the art of Arthur Szyk.

Important related collections

The Judaic Unit also makes recommendations for acquisitions in the Special Collections Research Center, the Askwith Media Library, the Fine Arts Library, and the Music Library.

The Special Collections Research Center houses our Jewish heritage collection, as well as relevant rare books.
