Donna Lee Hayward
Donna Hayward is associate dean of libraries at the University of Michigan Library, and is currently leading the effort to transform the library’s physical spaces to better serve the University’s 21st century research, learning, and teaching needs. Hayward also oversees the human resources, communications, and finance departments as well as the library’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
In her 15 years at Michigan, Hayward has been appointed to a series of increasingly responsible leadership roles within the library. In her previous role as associate university librarian for budget and planning, she transformed the management and oversight of the library's $69 million budget by tying it directly to future aspirations to provide a clear path to realizing them.
Hayward also served as acting director of the library’s publishing division during a crucial stage of the University of Michigan Press’s transition from independent campus entity to fully integrated library unit, and as manager of the library’s references. She has a Master of Science in Information from the U-M School of Information and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts.
