Who we are

What we do

We partner with library staff, campus departments, and students by connecting them to the technology, spaces, and collaborations they need for successful events, showcases, and engagements. 

Our Outreach and Engagement Team liaises with student organizations and academic support units to: define, create, and host activities; promote department services or events; and develop unique collaborations hosted at the library. 

Our Gallery Events Team coordinates the logistics for hosted events in the Hatcher Gallery and other locations where library and campus partners collaborate to share and create new knowledge. 

Our Technology and Audiovisual Team provides services for library meeting rooms, instruction labs, and event spaces. We manage the library’s digital signage in the Shapiro Lobby and other locations.

We also liaise with the academic units that share space in our library buildings, including Michigan Dining, the Knox Center, the Sweetland Writing Center, and Campus Computing Sites.

What we're working on

Currently our Technology and Audiovisual Team is offering a virtual service model, which has been evolving for the winter 2021 term. It includes:

  • Serving as tech hosts for large virtual library meetings and events for the campus community, and 
  • Developing best practices, training, and consultation for producing virtual meetings and events.

Our Outreach Team is also primarily focused on virtual services for winter 2021. We’re currently piloting a program where we’ll work with your student organization or academic support unit to provide information at your existing regular meeting on how to successfully use library virtual and limited onsite services during a hybrid semester — without contributing to videoconferencing fatigue! 

All library events and exhibits are virtual for the winter 2021 term.
