  2. Japanese Studies

    A Japanese-language collection that supports research and education related to Japan in the humanities and social sciences.

  3. Korean Studies

    South Korea and North Korea materials covering subjects in the social sciences and humanities.

History of the Asia Library

The Asia Library was established as the University of Michigan's Far Eastern Library in 1948. Its initial focus was on Japanese materials, but over the years has developed robust collections covering China and Korea, as well. We are one of the top four academic East Asian library collections in North America.
