Hatcher and Shapiro Bookable Study Room and Booth Guidelines

People booking study rooms and soundproof booths in the Hatcher and Shapiro Libraries should be aware of our reservation procedures and guidelines and are also expected to follow student conduct policies.

We reserve the right to cancel reservations or suspend reservation privileges if these guidelines aren't followed.

Reservation maximums

Individuals and groups can make reservations for up to 3 hours a day and up to 9 hours a week. Weekly maximums are calculated based on a rolling 7 days, looking forward.

If you're reserving for a group or organization, please include a group or organization name.

Required check in

The person who reserved the room must check in with their MCard at a 1st floor information services desk in Shapiro or Hatcher before entering the study room. You can check in up to 30 minutes before the start of your reservation.

If no one checks in within 30 minutes of the reservation start time, we'll cancel it to make the room available to others.

Cleanup expectations

Please be prepared to leave the room or booth at the end of your reservation and remove all trash and personal belongings when you go.

If you find a messy room, report it to a 1st floor information services desk or libraryfacilities@umich.edu
