About the space

The Bert’s Study Lounge is next to the Shapiro Lobby Information Services Desk and lined with digital displays on wood-slated and regular walls. It has couches, armchairs and ottomans, a mix of small round tables for 1-2 people, and single-seat bar-height tables.

In addition to the lounge space, there’s a number of regular and bar-height tables in the atrium between the Shapiro entrances.

Bert’s Café is opposite the lounge and a great place to grab a snack.

This is a very high-traffic space where you can expect active noise including talking, café sounds, and people moving around.

We accept proposals for digital showcases on the displays in the lounge and have dedicated screens for promotion slides, as well. See how to display a digital promotion or showcase

You may also see people hosting an information table in the lounge, which is another free service we offer.

Art on the wall in the lounge was inspired by The Birds of America, the U-M Library’s first book.
