	Published by the Defense Department, these books are published for countries with which the U.S. either has had foreign relations differences or may have in the future.  Each "country study" includes descriptions of the country's history, society, geography, environment, economy, government, and military.

	The State Department publishes these brief descriptions of the countries of the world including information on their governments, demographics, geography, military, economic situation, and U.S. relations with the country.  Post Reports are designed for personnel who will be stationed in a particular country.

Geographic and Global Issues - S 1.119/4: - 3rd Floor, New Stacks
	Formerly titled Geographic Notes.  Sections of this quarterly include Boundary and Territorial 	Issues, Economic and Resource Issues, Political Geography, Demographic Issues, and Geographic 	Names.  Topics range from German health care to an historical analysis of UN peacekeeping.

Texts of U.S. Foreign Policy Documents & Speeches

Foreign Relations of the United States --  S 1.1: -  Aisle 1, Documents Reading Room
	This series began in 1861 and consists of published correspondence and other documents of the State Department and other material affecting the foreign relations of the U.S.  Each volume is not put out until about 25 years after the year covered in a particular volume, for security and privacy reasons.

American Foreign Policy: Current Documents - S 1.71/2: - Aisle 4, Docs. Reading Room
	Published since 1941, with a gap in coverage from 1967 to 1977, this series reprints principal public foreign policy messages and addresses, press briefings, and conferences.  Microfiche supplements, issued since 1981, publish complete texts of documents on extracted in the paper edition.

Dispatch (1990-  ) - S 1.3/5:no. - Aisle 4, Documents Reading Room
	Library CD Network, NTDB, part 2
	Weekly report on foreign policy of the United States.  Dispatch includes speeches by government officials, treaty actions, and ambassadorial appointments.

Department of State Bulletin (1939-1989) - S 1.3: - Aisle 4, Documents Reading Room
	Reprints speeches of U.S. officials on important foreign policy matter.

Current Policy - S 1.71/4:no. - 3rd Floor, New Stacks
	This series of pamphlets reprints pivotal speeches by officials in the U.S. government on matters of foreign policy.  These speeches are entered into VCAT separately so that a search of VCAT would include citations to specific speeches.

	This CD contains the full text of many State Department publications.

FBIS Electronic Index - Library CD Network
	FBIS is a translation service started by the CIA in 1947.  FBIS is translations of newspaper and media accounts from foreign countries.  The CIA is interested in more than political affairs of communist countries, so there are stories on agriculture, economics, social affairs, etc. from the various regions of the world.  See Fact Sheet 3 for more information.

JPRS - Joint Publications Research Service -- PrEx 7. - Documents microforms.
	JPRS is a translation service which started in 1957 done by the CIA. See Fact Sheet 3

	Many Congressional committees publish hearings, prints, and reports in the area of foreign policy.  Specific documents may be found through VCAT or through searching the Congressional Masterfile CD on the Library CD Server.

	Each single page issue of Gist is designed to give the reader background on one area of U.S. foreign policy, for instance US Policy in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Problems of Communism (1952-1992) - IA 1.8:no.
	This monthly periodical contains articles by scholars on the social, political, and economic  problems of the communist world.  Ceased publication in 1992.
