Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) CD-ROM Notes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | To Get Started | Basic Instructions | Search Tips | To Quit | To Get Started * Open the IPEDS program menu. * Double-click on the IPEDS CD-ROM icon for the disc you wish to use (1995 includes records from 1991-95; 1990 includes only that year.) Basic Searching Instructions Input the information you have into the search field(s) and press "Enter" to run the search. To see a summary of the search results, click on the "Display Summary" button - a button in the middle of the button bar with a stack of lines across it; or go to the Window menu and choose "Summary." You can then double-click on an item in the summary to see the entire individual record. Please consult the CD-ROM instruction booklet for further help. Search Tips 1. When you are looking at an individual record, you will notice 10 tabs along the bottom. Each tab offers another screen's worth of information. However, there are more than 10. To see more, go to the "Window" menu and choose "Detail." Then go to the "DetailScreens" menu, and you will have 26 choices. 2. "Print" will print the entire record (several pages per year per institution). If you would like information printed, go the File menu, choose "Print Options" and deselect the Print Groups you don't need by clicking on the boxes to the left: if there is an "X" in the box, that information will be printed. 3. If you need the FICE Code to narrow your search, they are listed in the Higher Education Directory (located at the Education Reference Desk on the 6th floor). 4. Alternate Searching. If you click on the Tab Buttons (# 2-7) at the bottom of the search window, you will find alternate search methods. These will not usually be needed. To Quit At any time you can click on the Exit button: (or go to the File menu and choose Exit.) When you are done, please log off the computer: * In the Program Manager, go to its File menu and select Logoff. * Click on Yes to okay the logoff. If you have any questions, please ask a librarian.
