In this instance, the words are in the body of the text. 1. Use the arrow keys to highlight "Word or Phrase" 2. Enter the keyword(s) * The asterisk is a "wildcard" applied at the end of a word to include other forms of it. For example, expand* would find the documents containing expand, expanded, expanding, etc. * A question mark (?) stands for a single unspecified character and can be used anywhere except at the beginning of a word. 3. Enclose phrases in double quotation marks ("), e.g., "Christian Science" 4. There are three options to conduct the search: * Press F2 to go to the "results list" when the search is finished * Press ALT-F2 to go to the first document * Press CTRL-F2 to go to the first occurrence of the word or phrase in the first document 5. If you are unsure of the spelling if a word, press F5 (Word List). Type the beginning letters of the word until the one you need appears. Highlighting it and pressing enter causes it to appear on the search screen. 6. The program automatically supplies a boolean "or" for searches on each line. Enter the other boolean search terms on the indicated lines of the search screen. See the Searching Tips section of this manual for help on those types of searches. Search by Section Number: 1. Select database(s) using the steps listed above 2. Highlight "Section Number(s)" on the Search Screen 3. Enter the section number(s) * If you need more than one section in a title, use the wildcard character (*) or the question mark. 4. The manual's mnemonic appears in parentheses in the database list (F6) after the title. You can narrow a search to selected database(s) by entering that mnemonic in the "Manual Mnemonic" field. If you have already selected specific databases above, then skip this step. Search by Table of Contents: You can search by scrolling through the table of contents for the various titles. 1. Press F4 (Tables of Contents) 2. Arrow to the desired title 3. Press the Right Arrow () to see a next level of detail. The Left Arrow () moves up a level 4. Press Enter to view a document.
