SSTF 12 Software Features
Features:
Overview and Technical Documentation
Allows the user to view the ASCII files in the DOCUMENTATION
sub-directory. The user can also print or copy the selected
file.
Selecting from the List of Tables
Using the cursor keys the user can highlight a desired table
and press [Enter] to select. The user can also press the [F1]
key for the Subject Locator. This list quickly identifies the
SSTF tables by subject. A table can be selected from here
or the user can return to the List of Tables by pressing the
[Esc] key.
Displaying the Data
The user has several options when viewing the data by pressing
one of the following keys:
T Selects another table.
R Allows the user to select a different Race/Ethnicity,
then displays the data. This key will not be in operation
when viewing a "PA" or "HA" table because these tables are
not broken down by race.
G Allows the user to select a different Geographic
Area, then displays the data.
S Allows the user to select a different sub-group for
the selected table. Example: the user displays data
for males, the user can select females and view
that data without re-selecting a new table.
P Allows the user to print the selected table as
displayed on the screen to a printer or to a print
file.
C Allows the user to copy records for the selected
table to a file (see Copy Function below).
[F1] Overview and Technical Documentation (see above).
A Displays data for all persons for the selected
geographic area. There is an option to print this data.
[End] Exits the SSTF software.
Copy Function
Users can copy records from the SSTF datafile to various file
formats (i.e. ASCII, ASCII delimited, dBase, Lotus). There
are two options for copying records for a selected table:
Option 1:
Copy records for the selected sub-groups in a selected
table for selected geographic areas and /or selected
races/ethnicities.
This option allows the user to selected from the lists of
races/ethnicities and/or geographic areas for the pre-
selected sub-groups.
Option 2:
Copy records for the complete table for a selected
geographic area and race/ethnicity.
The user can copy a file for either option to an ASCII, ASCII
(delimited), dBase, or Lotus file format. Both options allow
the user to create technical documentation for the generated
output file.
The created technical documentation lists the fields as well
as their descriptions, field length, and character type.
