American Community Survey
- Provides sample data updates to the Decennial Census beginning 2002 for all states and all places, Congressional Districts, counties and metropolitan areas of 65,000+ population
- Data for places of 20,000+ expected in 2008, all governmental units regardless of size in 2010, and census tracts/block groups in 2012
- ACS will replace the long-form Census data in 2010
- Includes age, race, sex, ancestry, education, occupation, industry, commuting, fertility, labor force, income, and housing characteristics
- Summary of program, goals, and technical documentation
- Files retrievable through American Factfinder Data Sets Menu
- Choose place (Detroit or other place) and do a keyword search to identify income and poverty estimates. Place level is the lowest unit of geography for these updates
