[The following text is taken from the Depository Library Council web page.] Depository Library Council (DLC) Introduction The purpose of this web site is to provide interested parties with a historical compilation of information dealing with the Depository Library Council to the Public Printer. Citations to the Depository Council's Reports to the Public Printer and the written transcripts have been provided since these publications could not be included. A list of Depository Library Council members and their date of service is included. Also included are separate lists in alphabetical and chronological order and a separate file of the chairs of the Depository Library Council. The geographic location and date of each meeting is also listed. The largest part of this collection consists of the formal Depository Library council recommendations and their responses from the Government Printing Office. It has been difficult to locate some of the early recommendations. However, in all cases, the responses have been found. A transcript of the 1993 Chicago Conference has also been included. The deliberations of the first fourteen meetings held between February 1973 and April 1979 are covered in the four Reports to the Public Printer. They were provided to depository libraries under the SuDocs number: GP 1.35: Formal transcripts were produced for some of the early meetings. They were provided to depository libraries under the SuDocs number: GP 3.30: Starting with the Fall 1978 meeting, formal recommendations were presented to the Public Printer at the close of each Depository Library Council meeting. These recommendations were answered with the issuance of formal responses. These responses were usually provided to the Council at the beginning of the next meeting. Some responses were given orally and were found in the written minutes, while others were published in Public Documents Highlights and Administrative Notes. During the period from Spring 1991 to Fall 1992 the use of formal recommendations was discontinued and they were replaced with discussion papers and topics. Starting with Spring 1993 the use of recommendations was continued. The recommendations have been split into two groups, Spring and Fall. With each set of recommendations and responses, the reader Will find the file size if they wish to download the information. At present, indexing is only available through keyword searching of each set of recommendations and responses. A more detailed index to all the meetings is not yet completed.
