The new Guidelines were distributed to all depository libraries under item 0556-C, SuDocs GP 3.29:D 44/993/SUPP.2, on shipping list 96-0146-P, dated February 28, 1996. The Guidelines set forth program and performance goals for the depository libraries and the Government Printing Office, and they incorporate the formerly separate Minimum Standards for the Depository Library System. These documents, last revised in 1987, needed to be updated to take account of the many technological changes that have affected the Federal Depository Library Program during the last decade. The Guidelines were revised by a working group of depository librarians established by the Depository Library Council to the Public Printer. GPO and the Council would like to thank all those involved for their contributions to the Federal Depository Library Program.
