From lpsmail@access.digex.netWed Dec 20 09:16:12 1995 Date: Tue, 19 Dec 1995 15:30:14 CST From: Shipment Reply to: Discussion of Government Document Issues To: Multiple recipients of list GOVDOC-L Subject: ADNOTES: CLAIMS PROCESSING CONTRACTED OUT ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- THE MESSAGE BELOW IS FROM ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES, VOL. 16, #17 (Dec. 15, 1995). CLAIMS PROCESSING CONTRACTED OUT No Procedural Changes for Depositories [This notice was sent to all depositories in shipment boxes the week of Dec. 4-8, 1995.] The Library Programs Service (LPS) has contracted out its paper claim fulfillment operation. All claims for paper and separate titles will be packaged and shipped by the DDD Company, located in Annapolis Junction, MD. DDD will begin handling claims for publications on all paper and separate shipping lists beginning with shipping lists dated December 1, 1995. The DDD Company was our addressing and mailing services contractor from October 1990 through December 1994. They are therefore familiar with all facets of the LPS distribution operation and have the facilities and personnel to handle claims in a timely and efficient manner. There is no change for depository libraries in filing claims for paper and separate titles. Libraries will continue to fax, using (202) 512-1429, or mail their claim requests to LPS where they will be recorded and batched in shipping list number sequence and then sent to the contractor. LPS personnel will still be responsible for answering any questions or inquiries concerning claims. They will make every effort to solve any problems that may occur as a result of this change. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please feel free to contact Carl Redd, Chief, Depository Distribution Division, by telephone on (202) 512-1014.
