From lpsmail@access.digex.netWed Dec 20 09:14:37 1995 Date: Tue, 19 Dec 1995 15:29:32 CST From: Shipment Reply to: Discussion of Government Document Issues To: Multiple recipients of list GOVDOC-L Subject: ADNOTES: SUDOCS LETTER: REQUESTS ATTENDANCE AT CONFERENCE ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- THE MESSAGE BELOW IS FROM ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES, VOL. 16, #17 (Dec. 15, 1995). December 18, 1995 Dear Library Director: Critical Federal Government information issues and unique educational opportunities are on the agenda of the 1996 Federal Depository Library Conference. This conference, the largest meeting in the country designed specifically for depository library staff, will be held from April 15 - 18, 1996, in Arlington, VA, in conjunction with the spring meeting of the Depository Library Council and the Regional Librarians' Meeting. As your library maintains a Federal depository, I urge you to send at least one library representative to this very important conference. The 1996 conference offers a full menu of presentations, with sessions designed for the beginning depository librarian or technician as well as for the experienced staffer with extensive skills in using electronic media. Federal agencies will review their newest electronic information products and preview those still in the planning stages. The future of Federal Government information and of the Federal Depository Library Program will be critical issues on the agenda. The conjunction of the Federal Depository Library Conference, the Depository Library Council meeting, and the Regional Librarians' Meeting provides a valuable opportunity for exchange of ideas among depository librarians unequaled in the depository library community. As the meetings will focus on current issues with potentially immediate impact on depository libraries nationwide, I cannot over-stress the importance of your library's attendance. There is no registration fee for either the Federal Depository Library Conference or the Depository Library Council meeting. Thank you for your cooperation and for supporting your Federal depository operation. Sincerely, WAYNE P. KELLEY Superintendent of Documents
