From lpsmail@access.digex.netFri Dec 22 14:15:37 1995 Date: Fri, 22 Dec 1995 11:24:30 CST From: Shipment Reply to: Discussion of Government Document Issues To: Multiple recipients of list GOVDOC-L Subject: ADNOTES: SEND YOUR FINDING AIDS FOR CD-ROM COLLECTION ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- THE MESSAGE BELOW IS FROM ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES, VOL. 16, #17 (Dec. 15, 1995). DEPOSITORY LIBRARY FINDING AIDS, POLICIES, TRAINING MATERIALS TO BE COLLECTED ON FLOPPY DISK CONTRIBUTE YOURS NOW! For distribution on diskette at the 1996 Federal Depository Conference, we are collecting copies of policies, training materials, handouts, guides, bibliographies, and other finding aids. The time and effort you have spent creating these items can have a larger impact by helping other documents librarians who are trying to do the same things. We are particularly interested in: * collection development statements/collection policies; * staff or student training materials; * handouts about the Internet or compact-disc products, and * bibliographies of government documents on current "hot" topics (for example, the Balkan conflict or welfare reform). However, any other handouts will be gratefully accepted. Please send them to Larry Romans at the address below. If you can, please send your contributions on a high-density 3 1/2-inch diskette in WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, generic word-processing format, or DOS text. If you use Pagemaker or similar software, please strip off the formatting, since many people don't have that software. Most word-processing software has a "save as" option to allow you easily to download to generic word-processing format or DOS text. If your contributions are not on computer, please send two copies of each. At the bottom of the text of each item, please include the name of the person who created it, and the name of the depository. Please mail your contributions by March 1. The free diskette containing all of the contributions will be available at the Federal Depository Library Conference. Soon after the conference, the disk's contents will be available for downloading on the Federal Bulletin Board. Please send your contributions to: Larry Romans Head, Government Information Department Central Library, Vanderbilt University 419 - 21st Ave. South Nashville, TN 37240-0007 romans@library.vanderbilt.edu (615) 322-2838; Fax (615) 343-7451
