Before working at the Computer & Video Game Archive, Val worked for six years as a circulation assistant at AAEL. She has a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Michigan, a Master's Degree in Library & Information Science from Wayne State University, and a Graduate Certificate in Computer Information Systems from Eastern Michigan University.
She assists professors and students in pursuing their game-related research interests, hires and supervises student workers for the Computer & Video Game Archive, offers technical help, schedules events, helps field donations, etc. She also works at the Art, Architecture & Engineering Library reference desk.
