I am an Information Resources Senior Supervisor in the Onsite User Services division of Library Operations. I work in Hatcher-Shapiro Access Services. My supervisory focus is on Operations within Shapiro, specifically Shapiro Circulation Services and University Reserves, including faculty services. You'll primarily find me Monday-Friday, 8a-4:30p, at one of the service points or in the Circulation / University Reserves Office (1154 Shapiro, enter the first floor glass doors, and it's the first room on the west side). Feel free to email me if you have any questions related to Circulation or Reserves.
During the 2015 fiscal year, my colleague Alexandra Rivera and I are working together to fill an interim role as Diversity Specialists, in collaboration with Library Human Resources. Our responsibilities include developing a framework for diversity at U-M Library (aligned with our One Library declaration and goals, as well as results from climate assessments over the last five years), develop a diversity plan for 2015, develop best practices for recruitment and search committees, and to provide opportunities and training to enhance intercultural competence among U-M Library staff.
I have worked for the University Library in various roles since 2001. I studied Sociology at U of M, with specializations in social inequality and social welfare. In 2013-2014, I was co-chair of Library Diversity Council with Alexandra Rivera, during which we developed a strategic framework for the work of the Council.
I oversee all the services of the Shapiro Circulation operation during the day and afternoon. I also oversee University Reserves, which includes both student and faculty services, as well as behind-the-scenes processing of materials. The University Reserves print collection is now located in the Askwith Media Library! Please check Library Hours for our extended Askwith Media Library hours. If you are an instructor interested in placing a University Reserves Course Reserves request, or if you are a subject liaison placing a request on behalf of a faculty member, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
I also sit on the Shapiro Lobby Team, which is responsible for events and digital displays in the Shapiro Library Lobby (Bert's Study Lounge). These responsibilities include scheduling digital content. We are happy to display both student org promotion and event slides, as well as digital exhibits and student group "screen takeovers" (on a week-long basis). Please contact ShapiroScreens@umich.edu if you are interested in displaying content on the screens in the Shapiro Lobby.
I also coordinate our popular student organization information tabling service in the Shapiro Lobby.
Lastly, I serve as an Operations contact for our "Library Partners at Shapiro," which include ITS / Knox Center Adaptive Technology Computing Site, University Unions' Bert's Cafe, and Innovate Blue.
