Sara Bahnmaier leads Electronic Resources Acquisitions and Licensing (ELACQ) in Technical Services at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. ELACQ serves the University Libraries by managing licensed electronic resources, including ejournals, ebooks and online databases. Here orders are placed, over 35,000 subscribed serials are managed, access is activated, and payments for electronic products are approved. In coordination with the Office of General Counsel and Purchasing Services, ELACQ ensures licenses are reviewed, processed, and authorized appropriately.
Sara has been unit head and Associate Librarian at the University since 2010. Prior to that, she served as Electronic Resources Librarian at the University of Illinois at Chicago, coordinating negotiations and acquisitions. At UIC Sara assisted in planning and implementing technical services reorganization, and retrained Serials Acquisitions staff as E-resources Specialists.
Before she joined the library world, Sara administered research grants in the College of Medicine at UIC for 10 years. Sara has a BA and MA from University of Illinois at Chicago in English and American Literature and Rhetoric & Writing; and MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois.
