Background

I have a B.S. in Education with a minor in English from Marywood University in Scranton, PA. After graduating college, I completed a year of service in Colorado with AmeriCorps and continued on as a 5th grade teacher within my service district. After segueing into the library world, I worked for four years with the Denver Public Library. During my time there I was able to work both permanently and on-call in all 24 branches as well as General Reference and ILL. I moved to Ann Arbor in the fall of 2008 and have been working for the University of Michigan since February 2009. I enjoy any opportunity to interact directly with patrons in order to connect them to the materials and information they need.

Responsibilities

My job at Buhr is divided 50/50 between stacks/circulation and the Michigan Digitization Project. In the mornings, you will generally find me handling request retrievals, completing circulation work, updating items transferred to Buhr and staffing the reading room desk. My afternoons on MDP time are generally spent updating item records, cross-referencing spreadsheets with the library catalog and creating provisional records before items are sent out for scanning. I also process and shelve items that are returned from the Digital Conversion Unit.

I was very fortunate to have served as a volunteer member of the Staff Representation Advisory Committee from Nov. 2011-Jan.2013. Currently, I'm a member of the library Customer Service Committee.
