About
I am a programmer and systems administrator in Library IT - Core Services. In my spare time, I sing medieval & renaissance music and play a variety of obsolete instruments.
Background
I received my BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Maryland in 2003 and my MS in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2007. I joined the University Libraries in February 2010. Prior to that, I implemented an iPhone client for a location-aware social networking platform started by a University of Michigan spinoff company. I also designed and implemented a search engine for linguists while working as a research programmer at the University of Maryland. My interests are primarily in databases, information retrieval, machine learning, and natural language processing.
Responsibilities
I lead the ingest team for HathiTrust, working on developing and implementing specifications for loading books and other material digitized from various sources into HathiTrust and managing the ingest infrastructure. I also share systems administration responsibilities for various other aspects of the Library IT infrastructure with the other members of Core Services.
