Emily is the web content creator for U-M Library. In addition to writing stories for the library's various publications, she is committed to supporting research-based, user-centered web content standards as a member of the Web Content Coordinating Group and Website Redesign Team.


Emily previously served as the creative programs manager for a literary arts organization in Chicago; the senior publications editor at a national criminal justice nonprofit in New York City; and the editorial project manager at an international education association in Washington, DC. She has also worked as a newspaper copy editor and a classroom teacher, and has taught English and creative writing at the secondary and undergraduate level in the United States and abroad.

She received her BA in English and history from Michigan State University, a secondary teaching certification from the MSU College of Education, and an MFA in creative writing and literature from Stony Brook Southampton.
