How do I know what databases to search for a topic?

MEDLINE is the premier database for the biomedical literature and a good starting point. It is accessible via UM-MEDSEARCH and is also the core of the PubMed database. UM-MEDSEARCH includes other databases that cover the literatures of pharmacy and more.

There are many other databases available to you via our Research Guides. The links lead to guides with helpful information about many databases.

Search Tools is the gateway to all databases and other online resources in all subject areas which are available to University Library patrons. You can search for databases on a given subject, or browse databases by subject heading.

If you work on the Medical Campus, or for the Medical School, College of Pharmacy, School of Public Health, School of Dentistry or School of Nursing please feel free to contact the Informationist assigned to your School or Department for additional guidance and assistance.  You can also call 764-1210 or e-mail
