Data Sharing & Publication

Library staff can help disseminate research data for discovery, access, and reuse by others in ways that enable you to receive appropriate and meaningful credit for your work. We can help you:

  • Understand the potential benefits of publishing data
  • Manage your scholarly identity by including datasets in your ORCID profile or other relevant profiling tools
  • Connect you to disciplinary data publication options, including:
    • appropriate disciplinary and institutional repositories for research data

    • “data journals” or other means of publishing / sharing data outside of repositories

  • Know your options for preparing data for deposit into an appropriate data repository or journal
  • Acquire a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to enable your data to be cited
  • Prepare, upload, and deposit your data in U-M's stable data repository, Deep Blue Data.
