Women's Studio Workshop

Toby Millman was a resident at the Women's Studio Workshop in 2011. While at the Workshop, Millman created the book Facts on the Ground. The book explores the relationship between Palestine and Israel through oral testimonies and beautifully delicate letterpress and cutout maps. Millman is a prolific artist book creator and is a master of intricate printmaking. Additionally, she is a photographer and occasionally a filmmaker.

Elisabeth Belliveau is a multi-disciplinary artist who had an artist residency at Women's Studio Workshop in 2010. While there she created her book Academy and Estate. This book explores ideas of friends, family, travel, and growing up through wonderfully colorful and expressive drawings.

Judith G. Blumberg held an art residency at the Women's Studio Workshop in 1988. During her time there she created In this Land. The book explores the relationship between military control and domestic happiness by layer printing and transparent overlay.

Sue Bucholz held an art residency at the Women's Studio Workshop in 1984. While there she created One Psalm. The book was made by printing on handmade paper. It encourages contemplation by unfolding to reveal the story of the first Psalm through images and verse.

Barbara Leoff Burge is one of the founding members of the Women's Studio Workshop, was on staff for many years, and is now on the Board of Directors. She created Kunst Comix: A phony art history and a number of other books while working at the Workshop. Kunst Comix is a parody that juxtaposes images of traditional Russian icons, Indian paintings, and Japanese prints with images by Gorky and Walt Disney.

Stephanie Copoulos-Selle was an artist in residence at the Women's Studio Workshop in 2008. While there, she created LAP: Loretta's Acronym Primer. The book is a look at how acronyms exist in the world. Copoulos-Selle took acronyms from business, medicine, and government and re-created them with personal vocabulary that stresses the importance of the individual.

Copoulos-Selle is on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin - Waukesha. She got her MFA from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.

Sara Cushing was resident at Women's Studio Workshop in 1993. Her book Talismans consists of a juxtaposition of photography and drawings. Cushing also has work in the collection of the Center for Book Arts and the Walker Art Center.

Colleen Mullins had a residency at the Women's Studio Workshop in 1998 during which time she created, with Clement A. Mullins, the artist book Opening Day. The accordion-style book explores themes related to home, travel, and family by overlaying her father's photography with other images and text. Mullins is also a photographer and her work has been exhibited across the country.

Sandra Turley was an artist in residence at the Women's Studio Workshop in 2001. While she was there she created This Original Self. The book creates and blurs the portrait of a woman through the layering of fabric that has varying level of transperancy due to a burning process.
