Documents were sourced from the History of Medicine Division, National Library of Medicine.

The archive is comprised of four series that support research in the history of medicine, American studies, public policy, government and politics, social history, human rights, and sociology.  The four series include:

Of particular interest to researchers is the Commission's final report entitled AIDS: An Expanding Tragedy, which serves as a summary of the Commission's activities and includes a detailed chronology of its activities and provides an extensive list of all hearings, site visits, reports, and publications related to the Commission.
