Electronic Reserves - Book Chapters and Articles

Faculty are encouraged to request electronic versions of needed articles and book chapters for course support via the library's 7FAST service.

To Submit a Request

  • Logon to https://ill.lib.umich.edu
  • Select "article" or "book chapter"
  • Required citation fields: For an article, include the article title, author, journal title, year, and pages. For a book, provide author and title. Please indicate year or edition and whether you will accept an alternate edition. A "not needed after" date is helpful too. Including an ISBN/ISSN or OCLC number will typically speed up your request, especially if the item is not held locally.
  • Each citation is considered a separate request. Multiple articles or book chapters should be requested individually.

7FAST cannot scan non-library materials and must adhere to certain copyright guidelines.

7FAST supplies scans in about two business days and posts the PDFs to a secure website. Then instructors or their proxies must move the scanned items to their Canvas site for student access. Please note that, due to copyright restrictions, all scanned items, regardless of whether they are for course reserves or not, expire from the 7Fast site after two weeks and must be moved to Canvas before that time elapses.
