The History of Social Work
David Street, a sociologist, held an appointment with the university's
Department of Sociology when he was appointed professor of social work.
Street held a B.S.Ed. degree and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in sociology from
the University of Michigan.
He provided a link between the Department of Sociology and the school's
Joint Doctoral Program in Social Work and Social Science. He collaborated
with other members of the school's faculty and the Department of Sociology
in his research and publications on juvenile corrections and human service
organizations. He left to school in 1976 to join the faculty at the University
of Illinois at Chicago.
