Book Displays for June

Water display

We have two new displays in the 2nd floor lobby area of the Duderstadt Center, both of which highlight materials from the Art, Architecture & Engineering Library collection. The first display showcases materials about the art, science and politics of water, and the second display showcases anthologies of comics newspaper dailies.

The Air We Breathe Book Display

We are currently featuring a book display in the lobby on the second floor of the Duderstadt Center entitled "The Air We Breathe." It highlights books from the Art, Architecture & Engineering Library collection related to the concept of air in architecture, air handling in buildings, air pollution, etc.

Book Displays for April

Earth display

We are currently featuring two new book displays in the lobby on the second floor of the Duderstadt Center. The first one is a comics display that features Marvel characters from the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movie coming out in the next few days. The other display highlights books in the Art, Architecture & Engineering Library collection that feature the element of Earth, in recognition of Earth Month this month.

Not Just Computer & Video Games

Board games collection

Are you a fan of games, but not the electronic kind? Much of our collection of over 7,000 games does consist of computer and video games, but we also have over 200 board games that can be played within the CVGA space. We also have over 100 tabletop role-playing books available, featuring many different game systems. These books can be borrowed for up to 3 days at a time.

Book Displays for March

Fire display sign

For our March book displays, we decided to highlight books in the Art, Architecture & Engineering Library collection that have to do with fire, whether it be volcanoes, fire in Australian art, or the art of clay creations made with fire. Our comics display this month highlights graphic novels that feature vampire characters, whether it be Dracula himself or the many nemeses of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Art and Gaming Symposium

In just a couple of short weeks, the CVGA will be involved in an Art & Gaming Symposium, which will bring together academics, game makers, and game players to discuss the role of art in gaming. How is art reflected in games? How does one create art through games? How do we view games as art? These questions will be explored through speakers, panels and discussion in a one-day symposium on Saturday, April 7, 2018, on the campus of the University of Michigan & the Ann Arbor District...
