New Exhibit: Chinese Opera

A new exhibit, "Staging Theater: Chinese Operatic Practice and Performance," is opening at Asia Library on Friday, April 12, and continuing through Sunday, June 30. Featuring vibrant paintings of Peking opera face patterns, performance props, and rare books, this exhibition is timed to coincide with an exciting Chinese opera performance to be staged at the Michigan Theater on Saturday, April 13. Free tickets are still available for this production of The Lute (Pipa ji) by the renowned Suzhou Kunqu Opera Theater of Jiangsu Province, China, sponsored by the U-M Confucius Institute. The exhibition is co-organized by Carol Stepanchuk of the Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies, and Liangyu Fu, and co-sponsored by the Center and the U-M Library.
