Changing the Story: Our Roles in Stopping the Spread of Fake News

The Shapiro Lobby is featuring the display “Changing the Story” which helps educate students about fake news. The display teachings best practices undergraduate students can use when consuming news and empowers students in their role in stopping the spread of fake news. “Changing the Story” is the result of a partnership between Learning Programs & Initiatives and the Peer Information Counseling Program (PIC) and is also a digital supplement to the upcoming Library mini-course ALA 270 “Fake News, Lies, and Propaganda."

This month’s book display created by University Library Associates celebrates Women’s History Month by showcasing women’s autobiographies, biographies, and memoirs. These nonfictional narratives by and about women demonstrate some of the many compelling ways in which women’s stories are told.
Beyond the Diag
Monday 3/27 from 5-7 pm
Representatives from Beyond the Diag will be encouraging students to engage with the government as a citizen in a democratic society.
Tuesday 3/28 from 3-5 pm
A mechanical engineering student will be demonstrating a Chrome Extension tool called Power Notes and how it can be useful when doing research.
Phi Delta Chi
Tuesday 3/28 from 5-9 pm, Wednesday 3/29 from 1-5 pm
Representatives from Phi Delta Chi will be helping people sign up to become organ donors through the Michigan Organ Donor Registry drive.
March of Dimes – Run for Babies
Wednesday 3/29 from 5:30-8:30 pm, Thursday 5:30-8:30 pm
Representatives will be passing out information on how to register and donate to the March of Dimes Run.
