New Open House Series: Special Collections After Hours

The Special Collections Research Center is excited to announce Special Collections After Hours, a new open house series. Each month we’ll bring out a new group of themed highlights from the many books, documents, and artifacts in our collections. All are welcome to stop by any time between 4-7pm to explore our collections, enjoy light refreshments and chat with staff.

The inaugural event is set for Tuesday, September 11, where Pablo Alvarez will share a selection of early printed books concerning the old science and art of war. These books contain fascinating illustrations of Renaissance warfare including ancient weapons, war machines, military fortifications, and maps of famous historical battles.

We have an eclectic slate of events scheduled for the rest of the fall semester, including spirit photography, culinary ephemera, and radical board games. Visitors to our space on the 6th floor of Hatcher South can also enjoy the exhibit in our gallery space and, as always, the great view of campus. We look forward to hosting Special Collections After Hours on the second Tuesday of each month during fall and winter semesters, so check back later to see what we have in store for 2019!
