Technical Guidelines for Shapiro Screen Submissions

  1. Persons or groups submitting content must be currently affiliated with the University of Michigan.

  2. Formatting:

    • Groups of photos or slideshows should be submitted as Powerpoint using this 16:9 template, saving as .ppt with any necessary fonts embedded (use the option to only embed characters in the presentation, not all characters). We can also accept jpeg, pdf and png files.

    • Videos should be a 16:9 ratio and in MP4 or MOV format. We cannot display videos with sounds, and any videos with dialogue should have closed captions.

  3. By submitting content to be used on the screens in Bert's Study Lounge, entrants agree to grant the University of Michigan Library permission to use the content in promotional materials without compensation to the submitter. Any content used for any purposes will be fully credited to the submitter. Submitters also agree to allow content to be reformatted by the Library to properly display on the video screens. It is assumed you have been granted permissions by individuals who are depicted in your work.  

  4. All submissions will be submitted at least two weeks in advance for edits and proofing by  by members of the Shapiro Lobby Content Team. The Library reserves the right to approve or deny any submission of content at its discretion. We are happy to schedule a consultation with you in advance and can even test our your content on the screens.
