University Librarian and Dean of Libraries Search

On May 5, 2022, Provost Susan Collins charged the 17-member advisory committee to search for a new University Librarian and Dean of Libraries and recommend an unranked slate of candidates at the end of their process. The firm of Isaacson, Miller was hired to assist the committee with its work.

During May, the search consultants and the committee held open fora and small group meetings to solicit feedback from the university community about the challenges and opportunities ahead for the library and the qualities to see in a new leader. Feedback and nominations were also sought through an online survey. The survey remains open to collect additional responses.

The feedback collected during the outreach process was distilled into a position profile and advertisement. The position will be advertised online in higher education publications and library journals.

Throughout the summer the search advisory committee will work closely with the Isaacson, Miller consultants to build a broad and diverse candidate pool. Nominations for the position come from committee members, faculty, staff, alumni, and the consultants’ extensive network in the field of university libraries. The committee will carefully evaluate all applications to identify strong candidates.

If you would like to send nominations or comments to the committee, please email the Chair, Professor Susan Juster at Your help and support are welcome.

Search committee members will maintain the highest standards of confidentiality during this process.
