Liene Karels
About
Liene Karels worked as assistant director for marketing communications at the U-M for 8 years. Handling over 600 projects a year she created marketing programs for units throughout the University ranging from events and projects to the promotion of schools, colleges and departments. She moved to the University’s President’s office where she served as a communications manager to President Duderstadt taking on some of the complexities of a major University’s administrative center. There, she designed the University’s first website and found the original maize and blue colors of the University of Michigan. She went with Dr. Duderstadt to the Millennium Project at the University’s new Media Union to run projects pertaining to the creative use of technology in education. She came to the MLibrary from Internet2 where she established a new course for their brand architecture and redesigned their web presence.
