Finding a Popular Article This section of the tutorial will show you how to find a popular magazine or newspaper article using the Librarys ProQuest database. ProQuest is a database that lets you find citations to articles in both the popular press and in some scholarly journals. It often includes not only the citation to the article but the full text of the article itself. This section will show you how to search in ProQuest using the example topic "the effect of television violence on children." The easiest way to access ProQuest is by going to the Librarys Electronic Resources web page, at the following URL: http://www.lib.umich.edu/eresources/ If you want to be working in ProQuest at the same time you are following the tutorial, clicking here will open a ProQuest session in a new window in your web browser. NOTE: While this tutorial will show you how to use ProQuest, there are other databases available from the Library that let you access articles from the popular press. Two other popular databases are Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe(which is particularly strong for newspaper articles and transcripts) and General Reference Center Gold.
