APA Style

When you write your paper, you'll need to use the citation style recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA). The APA has published detailed guidelines for papers in the field of psychology. Keep in mind that MIRLYN does not use APA style, so you will have to move parts of the citation accordingly when you cite your sources.

Examples for preparing citations and the list of works cited are taken from Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th edition, "Notes and Footnotes", "Reference Citations in Text", and "Reference List" (available in the Undergraduate Library at the Reference Desk or at University Reserves, call number Z 253 .A55 2001) and the APA web Frequently Asked Questions page http://www.apastyle.org/elecref.html. See the manual for more detailed examples.

Generally, when you use APA citation style, you note sources in two places: 1) within the text of the paper (parenthetical citation) and 2) in the reference list at the end of the paper. If you cite a source in the text of your paper, that same source should be listed in the reference list.
