Traveling Libraries

Traveling Libraries Exhibits are a joint venture between the Shapiro Science Library and the Art, Architecture, and Engineering Library (AAEL), seeking to highlight library collections through coordinated displays between university libraries. These displays are in locations where the books would normally not be found, and expose readers to new information in unexpected places.

You can see AAEL books on display at the Science Library on the third floor of the Shapiro Building, and Science books displayed at AAEL on the second floor, Duderstadt.

Our current theme, “Biographies”, features titles about scientists, engineers, astronauts, pilots, artists, and architects.

Some titles you may see from AAEL on display at the Science Library include Eiffel: The Genius Who Reinvented Himself, Black Wings: Courageous Stories of African Americans in Aviation and Space History, and Koloman Moser: Master of Viennese Modernism.  If you’re at AAEL, you may see titles such as Invent Radium or I'll Pull Your Hair, In Albert's Shadow : the Life and Letters of Mileva Maric, Einstein's first wife, and Carl Sagan: a Life visiting from the Science Library.

For a full list of items on display, you can download a .pdf copy of the bibliography for items at Shapiro Science or at AAEL.
