Filmakers Library Online
Filmakers Library Online provides over 1000 documentary films (over 800 hours), originally distributed by Filmakers Library. Films are on a variety of topics such as health, history, education, gender studies and psychology. MLibrary has Filmakers Library Online Volume 1 and Volume 2.
Each film has a transcript; many include filmmaker biography and notes. Clips and playlists can be created, saved and shared. Videos can be downloaded to an Apple OS or Android phone, available for 48 hours.
Music Online
Music Online is a cross-searchable portal of audio and video products from Alexander Street Press, including American Song, Classical Music Library, Dance in Video, Garland Encyclopedia of World Music, Jazz Music Library, Opera in Video, and Smithsonian Global Sound.
American History in Video
Upon completion, American History in Video will contain over 5700 documentary films and newsreels (over 2000 hours) of significant events in U.S. history, in streaming video. Each film includes a transcript. Clips and playlists can be created, saved and shared. Videos can be downloaded to an Apple OS or Android phone, good for 48 hours.
World History in Video
Upon completion, World History in Video will contain over 1750 documentary films and newsreels (over 1000 hours) of significant events in world history, in streaming video. Each film includes a transcript; many include filmmaker biography and notes. Clips and playlists can be created, saved and shared. Videos can be downloaded to an Apple OS or Android phone, good for 48 hours.
Ethnographic Video Online
Ethnographic Video Online contains over 1600 films, primarily ethnographic documentaries and interviews of anthropologists. The collection covers every region of the world and features the work of many of the most influential documentary filmmakers of the 20th century, including previously unreleased raw footage, field notes and study guides. Documentaries from key filmmakers such as John Marshall, Timothy Ash, Robert Gardner, David MacDougall, John Bishop, David Plath, and others provide long-term perspectives on the study of regions and cultures, as well as the historical development of documentary film itself. Each film includes a transcript. Clips and playlists can be created, saved and shared. Videos can be downloaded to an Apple OS or Android phone, available for 48 hours.
This collection includes both Ethnographic Video Volume I and Ethnographic Video Volume II. Voulme II provides an additional 450 films, including films from a number of new publishers and distributors, such as the Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI), ZED, and Documentary Educational Resources (DER)
Counseling and Therapy in Video
An online video collection for the study of social work, psychotherapy, psychology, and psychiatric counseling. When complete will contain over 500 videos of counseling and therapy sessions. Videos can be searched and browsed. All include transcripts. Users can save clips and make and share playlists of selections. Includes three modules: Counseling & Therapy in Video I, II and III.
Opera in Video
Opera in Video contains 300 opera performances, captured on video through staged productions, interviews, and documentaries. Selections represent the world's best performers, conductors, and opera houses and are based on a work's importance to the operatic canon. Performances cover the full range of operatic composition, from the Baroque to the 20th century. Multiple performances and stagings worldwide of the major operas allow for analysis of stage design, vocal techniques, roles, and musical interpretation across time periods, opera houses, and conductors.
Dance in Video
Dance in Video contains nearly 500 hours of dance productions and documentaries by the most influential performers and companies of the 20th century. Selections cover ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance. Included are classic performances from top ballet companies, experimental works from up-and-coming dance troupes, documentaries by and about leading choreographers, videos on dance training, and other items covering a wide range of 20th century dance styles.
