Economics

These directories assist researchers by providing the publishing information of thousands of academic journals. Directories include information about the subject areas emphasized by each journal, type of review process, acceptance rate, number of reviewers, time required for review, and availability of reviewer comments. Some specific manuscript submission guidelines are also provided. Library subscribes to the Cabell's directories for business, education and psychology/psychiatry.

Africa Development Indicators contains over 1,600 indicators and time series from 1961 to the present for 53 countries. Data include social, economic, financial, natural resources, infrastructure, governance, partnership, and environmental indicators. The ADI Data Availability Query shows where data is available for a given country, series, and year. It contains the value "1" for available data and ".." for missing data.

1961-

GFS Online contains detailed annual statistical data on revenue, expense, transactions in assets and liabilities, and stocks of assets and liabilities of general government and its subsectors as reported by member countries going back to 1990.

A multidisciplinary database, with searchable author abstracts, covering the journal literature of the social sciences. It indexes 1,700 journals spanning 50 disciplines.

1900 -

A complete searchable archive of every issue of The Economist from 1843 to four years ago, with full-color images, multiple search indexes, and exportable financial tables. One of the most widely read magazines in the world, offering timely reporting, concise commentary and comprehensive analysis of the world's political, business, scientific, technological and cultural developments and the connections between them. (For text-only access to issues of The Economist from the most recent four years, use Academic OneFile, Access World News, or ProQuest Research Library.)

1843 - 2006 Includes complete full text of every issue from the first (August 1, 1843) through the last December issue of 4 years ago. (One year of additional content from 4 years ago is added annually.)

The BOP database contains time series data from 1948. Balance of Payments Statistics summarize, for a specific period, the economic transactions of an economy with the rest of the world. It reports total goods, services, factor income, and current transfers an economy receives from or provides to the rest of the world as well as capital transfers and changes in each economy's external financial claims and liabilities.

The DOT database contains time series data from 1980. Direction of Trade Statistics provides critical data on the value of merchandise exports and imports between each country and all its trading partners. It reports total bilateral and multilateral exports and imports aggregated at national or regional group level.

The New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics, 2nd edition, edited by Steven N. Durlauf and Lawrence E. Blume, 2008.  Contains over 1,850 articles by more than 1,500 of the world's leading economists. Updated quarterly.

Based on The New Palgrave: A Dictionary of Economics, edited by Eatwell, Milgate and Newman, 1987, but with 80% new material.  1987 edition also included; can be searched separately or together with the 2008 edition.

The World Development Indicators (WDI) provides a comprehensive selection of economic, social and environmental indicators, drawing on data from the World Bank and more than 30 partner agencies. The database covers more than 900 indicators for 210 economies with data back to 1960. Specific series and countries/groups can be selected for specific year ranges, and data can be exported.

1960 -

Indexes over 5,000 journals and magazines covering all fields and topics, academic and popular, beginning as early as 1971.  Provides full text for articles from over 3,600 of these journals and magazines.  Includes a diversified mix of scholarly journals, trade publications, magazines, and newspapers designed to cover the top 150 core academic subject reference areas extensively.
