The English language Zionist periodical Israel’s Messenger is an important source of knowledge about the Shanghai Jewish community in the years predating the establishment of the Jewish state and the role Jews of the time played in politics, science and international trade.

1904-1941

One of the greatest Jewish sages of all times, Moses Maimonides, was not only an outstanding legal authority, compelling philosopher, and accomplished physician, but also the most influential Jewish spiritual leader of his age. The present selection of his works is wide in scope, since it embraces virtually the entire spectrum of Maimonides’ literary output. The sources collected here include the newly digitized original Unparalleled Editions collection of 290 microfiches containing 58 titles which are mostly Hebrew printed editions as well as imprints from the 16th up to and including the 20th century and examples of bilingual editions containing Hebrew and either Latin, Judeo-German, or French text. Added to the original collection from the British Library are further incunabula which expand and enhance access to this important leader’s life work.

16th- 20th centuries

Digitized version of the English-language daily Jerusalem Post, 1932-1988. Covers Israel, the Middle East, and the Jewish World. Previous title: Palestine Post (1932-1950).

Contains a rich variety of original manuscript collections from the unique holdings of the American Jewish Historical Society in New York. Access to six major organisational collections and twenty-four collections of personal papers is provided. Personal collections  include a treasure trove of letters, scrapbooks, autobiographies, notebooks and other materials relating to the late 17th through to the mid-20th century.  Organizational content includes papers and documents from a variety of Jewish organizations. In addition to these diverse and interesting manuscript collections, rare printed books and pamphlets from the Soble and Rosenbach collections at the American Jewish Historical Society are also included.
