Looking for Today's Science?

After reviewing the use and cost of Today's Science in comparison to other resources we have available online, the University Library has decided to cancel our online subscription to Today's Science effective September 1, 2012.

As an alternative to Today's Science, we recommend Science News.  Current coverage (Jan. 4, 1997- date) can be found via Wiley Online access to Science News and older content can be found in Science News in JSTOR.

If you have questions or concerns about this decision, please contact the University Library’s General Reference & Popular Press Electronic Resources Team at grpp@umich.edu

ProQuest Digital Microfilm

Alternative Titles
Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press, Los Angeles Times, National Law Journal, New York Law Journal, New York Times
PQDM, CT, DFP, LAT, NLJ, NYLJ, NYT
Description

Browseable access to scanned images of print editions of six U.S. newspapers from 2008 up to a few months ago:  Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press, Los Angeles Times, National Law Journal, New York Law Journal, and New York Times.  Every page can be viewed online, downloaded in PDF, or printed out.  But as with traditional microfilm, issues and pages can only be flipped through in chronological and numerical order--the interface does not provide any way to search by words included in the articles.  Includes all photos, illustrations, advertisements, etc. that are not included in recent years of other searchable, but text-only versions of these newspapers in other databases like LexisNexis Academic and ProQuest.

Important technical note:  On Apple computers, PQDM works only with the Google Chrome web browser; it does not work with either Safari or FireFox on Macs.  On Windows PCs, it works with FireFox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer 8; but it may not work with other versions of IE.
