digitalculturebooks » an imprint of the University of Michigan Press and the Scholarly Publishing Office of the University of Michigan Library dedicated to publishing innovative work about the social and cultural impact of new media. The imprint draws on the academic publishing expertise of the Press and the robust digital infrastructure of the Library in an effort to provide scholars with a newly expanded set of publishing choices. Each dcb publication will be available in simultaneous print and online editions; the online editions will follow open access principles; and authors will be encouraged to make use of Creative Commons licenses. In this way, the imprint seeks to maximize the possible audiences for each work and to promote electronic publishing by using the print book to point more traditional readers to the supplemental materials, features, and functionality which the online publication makes possible. Over time, the digitalculturebooks website will not only offer access to these publications but will also serve as an interdisciplinary hub where scholars can share information and ideas about the emerging field of new media.
